The grant funds community-based screening programs implemented through local health authorities and territorial partnerships. Eligible applicants must document prior work with communities having fewer than 1,000 residents.

Northwest Territories requires evidence of sustained engagement with band councils and regional wellness committees prior to application submission. Unlike Alberta applications, Northwest Territories requires demonstration of extreme rural delivery capacity due to frontier county designation.

Northwest Territories Screening Infrastructure Constraints

Only three permanent hospital facilities exist in the territory, requiring mobile or fly-in screening models for the remaining 30-plus communities. Economic reliance on resource extraction produces transient worker populations whose screening records often remain incomplete.

Eligibility Criteria for Northwest Territories Applicants

Organizations must hold active contribution agreements with the Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Health and Social Services. Applications require letters of support from at least three community governments and evidence of culturally adapted recruitment materials in official Indigenous languages.

Application Requirements Specific to Northwest Territories

Proposals must include detailed logistics for equipment transport during winter road seasons and contingency plans for equipment failure in remote health centres. Screening rate improvements are measured against baseline data collected in the two years preceding the project.
