Investigators seeking to launch discovery projects must therefore budget for either on-site processing or temperature-controlled shipment via the twice-weekly cargo flight to Edmonton. Winter runway closures at remote airports occur on average 27 days per season, requiring explicit contingency language in grant narratives.

The award structure permits up to $275,000 over three years to support hypothesis-driven work on cancer mechanisms.
